We also awarded the trophy to Stage 1’s Spelling Bee Champion. We have a huge group of students heading to our regional athletics carnival to represent our school. We wish them good luck in Week 10. We also awarded the medals to students who were age champions from our athletics carnival who were away last.Congratulations to our student of the week for Kindy. It was wonderful hearing all the comments from his fellow students. In stage 1 we held a Maths Bee on Tuesday. The questions were very tricky and students were unable to use any equipment to work out their answers. We would like to congratulate all students on their participation. The top 3 students received a certificate at our morning assembly. The Gotcha wheel was spun and the Principal once again lost her chair! It seems to be a favourite. The week that was!Everyone at SJV has certainly been busy. We began our week with Stage One heading to Tocal Homestead where they got to live in the past. We loved seeing them all dressed up and experiencing life in the 1800’s. When asking students what the favourite part of their day was the majority said carrying the water buckets and doing the washing. Yes, you heard it here they like doing washing! So, parents you might get a jump start on having them help out hanging the washing at home. On Tuesday morning we gathered together as a school community to commemorate Reconciliation Week. In 2023, the theme for National Reconciliation Week is Be a Voice for Generations. The theme encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in real ways in our everyday lives. On Wednesday we saw a sea of colour as students wore their footy colours. This event was to fundraise for St Vincent De Paul to assist in their winter appeal. All money raised will go towards buying food and warm blankets to families in our area less fortunate. The Gotcha wheel was spun and the principals chair and a voucher for the Gotcha shop were won. At our assembly we acknowledged all the students who have been respecting our school environment, living like Jesus and applying themselves in the classroom. On Thursday students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2 were part of the Hunter Water Show at school. They learnt about the importance of water. The children enjoyed singing Incy, Wincy Spider. We also awarded our student of the week for Kindy, well done!Today was the Stage 2 spelling bee. All students gave it a go and we are extremely proud of their resilience. We wish to congratulate our Stage 2 Spelling Bee Champion. At morning assembly we handed out our age champion medals for the Athletics carnival. ... See MoreSee Less

Week 5 at SJV...Catholic Schools Week...This year’s theme, ‘Encounter: Journeying Together’, reminds us that we are called to be Easter people – those who are committed to building joy-filled communities constantly seeking unity and belonging. Our theme calls for us to accompany others along the road, meeting them where they are at, hearing the things that excite, and those that express their disappointments, and offering fresh hope through the Word and love of God.We came together for a special whole school mass with Father John, and it was lovely to see parents and grandparents attend the mass too.Southlake Community Services invited the SJV Choir to sing at their Biggest Morning Tea which was to help raise funds for cancer research. The choir sang like angels which saw them receive a huge round of an applause and have been asked to sing at another Morisset community event in the near future. The students played games, ate snacks and made some new friends. It was so lovely. Thank you for having us for a special event. The Gotcha Wheel was spun and won and the students picked to ‘have the principals chair” and “Something special from the Gotcha Shop”. Some of our spelling bee winners and participants were presented with their certificates at morning assembly. Congratulations to all that tried and did their best.Congratulations to our SJV Kindy Student of the week. Was great to hear what your class friends had to say about you. Today we held our SJV Athletics carnival and we will post these photos next week😊 ... See MoreSee Less
