The week that was at SJV (Week 10/Last week of the school term)...GRANDPARENTS LITURGY & MORNING TEA…On Thursday our school community came together to celebrate the wonderful Grandparents in our lives. We started with a beautiful liturgy recognising the importance Grandparents play in our families. After a visit to classrooms, our families enjoyed a beautiful morning tea with fresh scones topped with jam and cream together. It was a fabulous day with plenty of sunshine and plenty of smiles and happy faces. It is always such a lovely time for our Grandparents to spend time at the school with their family and friends.GOTCHA SHOP…The SJV Gotcha Shop is a part of the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBS) program which was launched early in the year. The student-centred rewards program is to acknowledge, celebrate and reward students who uphold our school PBL Values; Respect YourselfRespect Other’sRespect EnvironmentStudents are acknowledged and rewarded with Gotcha tickets that go in to the weekly Gotcha Wheel spin on a Wednesday and points which can be accumulated and spent at our PBL Gotcha Shop, which is open each Friday.WHOLE SCHOOL ASSEMBLY…CONGRATULATIONS and WELL DONE to all the hardworking students who were acknowledged with awards at the Term 3 Week 10 Whole School Assembly.KINDNESS CLUB…SJV Kindness Club celebrated International Talk Like a Pirate Day on Tuesday. We made our own pirate chatter boxes, created our own treasure chest full of gold and diamonds and one student even wrote about what they would do if SJV had our own pirate ship at school. We had a wonderful time celebrating all things piratical!LAST DAY OF TERM 3!Let's take a moment to celebrate all the hard work and dedication that has brought us to this point. Catholic Mission Raffle – Maitland Newcastle Catholic SchoolsDuring recess on Wednesday and Thursday this week, Mini Vinnies will be selling raffle tickets to raise money for Catholic Mission. Tickets are 50c each or 3 for $1.The major prize is a signed Newcastle Jets Jersey. Week 9 at SJV…Wow - what a wonderful week of celebrating Children's Book Week we had. All of our students and staff looked amazing at the parade. I'm not sure who had the most fun! Thank you to all the family members who went to great efforts to ensure everyone had a costume to join in our parade. Author Deborah Kelly visited and spoke to us about the process of creating a children's book and shared some of her books with us including a sneak peek at some of her upcoming texts. Pizza and Pj Night was once again successful. it was great to see so many families attending. Thank you for supporting our Book Fair again this year.All the students showed off their dance moves in front of their parents, grandparents, and extended family members this morning. The students have been practicing each Friday during their sports class. Was a great way to start a Friday morning off at school. Great dance moves.NRL popped in today for the students to try their hand at some NRL drills which made them work up a thirst.Year 3 this week were learning about 2D and 3D shapes during math's.
