Week 8 at SJV….Years 3 & 5 sat for this year’s NAPLAN and the students took it all in the stride. Year 3 were very lucky to have a special down time after the great effort they did by getting to create and play with some play dough and computer time. Keep up the great work year 3 and year 5.The weekly Gotcha Wheel had two very big spins landing on “pick something from the Gotcha shop” & “Free Time”. Both students were very happy with their winnings. It is so great to see the amount of Gotcha tickets in both Infants and Primary categories growing each week. Well done t everyone that tried their best and received a Gotcha ticket this week. The SJV school mascot runner up’s and winner were announced at morning assembly. Each of the runner up’s received a canteen voucher and Dymocks voucher and the winner not only received a Dymocks voucher but their design will now be made in to the official SJV school mascot which will soon begin to be placed around the school, on stationary and even a special bear. Thank you to all students that did their best and submitted their design. They were all amazing and all of you should be extremely proud of yourselves. The whole school assembly took place on Wednesday afternoon which saw students receive the PBS award, MJR award and merit awards. All the students and staff that had a birthday in the last two weeks jumped up on stage and the school sang happy birthday to them. AFL came on Thursday morning to teach the students more coordination skills of the game and Gecko Sports kept with the AFL theme and students tried their kicking skills between the posts. On Thursday afternoon the whole school came together for a Brainstorm production in the hall. Being Brave is a live show that gives students positive strategies to cope with emotions and adapt to change at school, at home and online. When children experience change, bullying, loss and other stressful life events, it can have a huge impact on their behaviour and wellbeing. They may worry about themselves, their families and the world. Each year our Mini Vinnies Team raise money for Caritas through Project Compassion. One of the big fundraising day’s is always on St Patrick's Day - 17th March. The students and staff wore green, orange and bit of white and donated gold coins, the students purchased green and orange jelly cups and Irish coloured themed lolly bags at recess.Well done SJV… The money raised today will be going towards Caritas for Project Compassion to help those in need across the world.Thank you to our Mini Vinnies team and Mrs Salafia for all their hard work. ...
