Student Leadership

St John Vianney aims to provide opportunities to develop and cultivate leadership qualities within all students. We aim to instill in students a strong sense of social justice through the service of others.

School Leaders

Students from Year 6 are all eligible to become school leaders. In Year 5, all students participate in a leadership day led by our school principal to prepare them for this role. Nominated students prepare a speech and the student body votes for their preferred nominee. After approval from the principal in consultation with the school staff, the successful students are inducted at our Beginning Event.

The leaders perform a number of ceremonial roles on special occasions. They meet and liaise often with the Stage 3 teacher and principal. The leaders are responsible for setting a good example of being responsible, respectful and safe at all times. The leaders see a major part of their role to be problem solvers and forward thinkers.

School leaders also have responsibility for the care of sports equipment, maintaining house enthusiasm in sporting activities, and representing the school at community functions such as the Anzac march, as well as school-based activities.
